A multi-decade Hollywood post-production sound veteran who has worked on hundreds of films and television shows working with major talent like Ridley Scott, Tobe Hooper, David Fincher, and others. Elgin-born Dean made thirty-eight film shorts at Northwestern University and posseses a scholar's knowledge of movies and film history. Cruising Purgatory and This Way Out of Brooklyn are his first feature films as a director.

Born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, Michael has followed his creative pursuits in writing, graphic design, photography, and filmmaking. After becoming a published author of several novels including Captured, he relocated to Los Angeles to work at Disney Feature Animation as Assistant Director on The Little Mermaid. Michael continued working in animation at other studios like DreamWorks for over a dozen years. Like Dean, Cruising Purgatory and This Way Out of Brooklyn are his first live-action feature films.
